I wrote a YA version of this book almost 10 years ago. The idea came from my love of the X Files and those things that can ALMOST be explained by science, but not quite yet.
The original pitch? Groundhog Day meets The Blair Witch Project.

As a celebration of college graduation, four friends begin the five-day trek through Triangle Pass on a mission to help the Colorado Park Service re-open a trail dubbed “unsafe” for the vast number of disappearances. The hope for the group? Bring some closure to people who lost friends and family out here. Reese’s hope? Bring some kind of proof to the numerous urban legends about Triangle Pass. After the first night of fitful dreams, and women suspecting their male counterparts of pranks, the group is caught in a landslide.
One disappears, and the rest begin to live the same day again and again – fighting an unseen force they are powerless to stop. With only vague memories of the day they’re reliving, the three fight to break the cycle.
With limited resources, and all alone, the fourth struggles to stay alive.
The problem with legends is they become legends for a reason—they have power, and now the group might not be strong enough to break free from the mystery surrounding Triangle Pass, or the rugged wilderness of Colorado.
